Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Magdy Allwan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Ministry of Culture announced the selection of Dr. Shaimaa Mohamed Abdel Aal, lecturer in the French Language Department at the Faculty of Arts, as a member of the Translation Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture for 2026. This step reflects the trust in Egyptian academic competence and the university's role in supporting cultural and civilizational exchange.
This selection comes in recognition of Dr. Shaimaa Mohamed’s distinguished academic career in specialized translation and her extensive experience in bridging communication between cultures.
The Translation Committees at the Supreme Council of Culture are considered one of its most important strategic arms, as they are responsible for shaping national translation policy, selecting global intellectual, literary, and scientific works for translation into Arabic, and overseeing the accuracy and quality of translated outputs, all of which support the cultural renaissance project and enhance the presence of Egyptian and Arab thought globally.
On his part, Dr. Magdy Alwan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, congratulated Dr. Shaimaa Mohamed on this achievement, emphasizing that this selection reflects the college’s leadership in graduating professionals capable of actively participating in cultural decision-making, particularly in the field of translation, which serves as Egypt’s cultural gateway to the world. He pointed out that "translation is not just a linguistic transfer, but a civilizational dialogue and a tool for building bridges between nations." It’s worth mentioning that the Supreme Council of Culture recently announced an ambitious plan to develop the translation movement in Egypt, including supporting digital translation projects, launching a unified online platform for publishing translated works, and organizing specialized workshops to enhance the skills of emerging translators, in line with Egypt 2030’s vision of human development and strengthening international cultural presence.
