The President of Assiut University witnesses the celebration of the Adult Education Center at the Faculty of Education for its five-year anniversary

Today, Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, President of Assiut University, witnessed the proceedings of the grand celebration under the title "Assiut without illiteracy", to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the establishment of the Adult Education Center at the Faculty of Education, praising its success over the past years in assuming a distinguished position and achieving honorable numbers that contributed to strengthening the state's efforts aimed at erasing Illiteracy and adult education is an issue that the university has assumed for years the responsibility to address with all sincere work and diligent effort to achieve the state’s endeavors for the progress and development of Upper Egypt, in light of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s direct support and remarkable care for the governorates of Upper Egypt, and his position on the issue of building human awareness Intellectually and culturally, it is at the top of its priorities, within the features of the new republic, the foundations of sustainable development, and Egypt’s 2030 strategy.

This came during his speech at the university’s celebration of the five-year anniversary of the establishment of the Adult Education Center at the College of Education, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-Minshawi, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Adel Rasmi Al-Najdi, Dean of the College of Education and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, and Dr. Ashour Ahmed Al-Omari, Director The General Authority for Adult Education, Dr. Khaled Abdel Hamid, director of the branch of the Adult Education Authority in Assiut, and Dr. Omar Mohamed Morsi, director of the adult education center at the university, along with a group of deans and agents of a number of university faculties, in addition to the presence of the center’s faculty members from the Faculty of Education And a crowd of college students and scholars who have been eradicated in the center and their families.

In this context, Dr. Adel Rasmi praised the university administration for responding to all student and societal requirements and for keeping pace with the means of technology, scientific development and modern knowledge, which prompted it to provide full attention and support to the Adult Education Center five years ago so that it could play its active role in supporting the issue of illiteracy that Egypt suffers from. For a long time, which prompted the college to assign its students to eradicate the illiteracy of 8 students as a graduation requirement, which contributed to eradicating the illiteracy of more than 20 thousand citizens in Assiut Governorate, in cooperation with the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education.

Dr. Ashour Al-Omari, Director of the General Authority for Adult Education at Assiut University, praised it for being one of the first Egyptian universities to sign a cooperation protocol with the authority to start active participation in eradicating the illiteracy of citizens in Assiut Governorate through the Adult Education Center at the Faculty of Education, which activated the participation of college students in the national project to eradicate illiteracy. And adult education in pursuit of the slogan (Assiut without illiteracy), where it was the first at the level of the level and the second at the level of the Republic after the center of Ain Shams University.

In this regard, Mr. Khaled Abdel Hamid, director of the authority’s branch in Assiut, congratulated the General Authority for Adult Education for winning the UNESCO Prize for the year 2021 AD in literacy and adult education for its excellence in the field of literacy using digital technology. During the Covid 19 crisis, the authority replaced 70,000 literacy classes with technology He stressed that one of the main reasons for achieving this success is the authority’s cooperation with universities, praising the center’s board of directors and those in charge of its fruitful and effective activity in treating this major national issue, including faculty members, employees, and students of the faculty who are in charge of teaching. at the centre.

Dr. Omar Morsi, director of the center, stated that during the celebration shields were exchanged between the president of the university and the head of the Adult Education Authority, in addition to the authority honoring the university president with a certificate of appreciation. Dr. Adel Rasmi and a certificate of appreciation for Dr. Omar Morsi, and on the other hand, the Center handed over the honorary shields to Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, President of the University, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawi, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ashour El-Omari, Professor Khaled Abdel Hamid from the General Authority for Adult Education, and Dean Mostafa Abdel God, the former director of the authority’s branch in Assiut, in addition to honoring the first nine students in the national literacy project, and the president of the university handing out literacy certificates to nine students.
