تتناول هذه الورقة المخطط الابتدائي لمشروع مدينة الحدائق بالصحراء الغربية في مصر. تصل الكثافة السكانية في مصر إلي أكثر من 100 ألف نسمة / كم2 في مناطق عديدة خاصة في المدن الكبرى ومنطقة دلتا النيل. وتتركز الغالبية العظمى من السكان في ما لا يزيد عن 6% من مساحة الجمهورية، بينما يهدد الاحتباس الحراري أراضي دلتا النيل بالغرق. فكان لابد من السعي لإيجاد حلول مبتكرة تفي باحتياجات الشعب وتعتمد علي الطاقات المتجددة وتوفر فرص عمل كثيرة. تقع مدينة الحدائق بواحة الفرافرة الجديدة في نطاق محافظة الوادي الجديد . تعتمد المدينة علي قاعدة اقتصادية قوية من الزراعة والصناعة، كما تستمد الطاقة من طاقة الشمس وطاقة الرياح المتوفرتين بالموقع وتعتمد علي مواد بناء محلية بالواحة. تتسع المدينة المخططة لنحو 117 ألف نسمة وتتسع الواحة لنحو مليون نسمة عند اكتمال نموها. توضح هذه الورقة الأسس التي تم بناء المخطط الأولي عليها والسياسات المتبعة فيه.

This paper deals with the preliminary plan of the Garden City project in the Western Desert in Egypt. The population density in Egypt reaches more than 100,000 people / km2 in many areas, especially in major cities and the Nile Delta region. Most of the population is concentrated in no more than 6% of the area of the republic, while global warming threatens the lands of the Nile Delta with sinking. It was imperative to strive to find innovative solutions that meet the needs of the people and rely on renewable energies and provide many job opportunities. Al Hadaek City is located in New Farafra Oasis within the New Valley Governorate. The city relies on a strong economic base from agriculture and industry. It also derives energy from the energy of the sun and wind energy available on the site and depends on local building materials in the oasis. The planned city will accommodate about 117 thousand people and the oasis will accommodate about one million people upon completion of its growth.
