Tarek El-Gammal, President of Assiut University, announced a decision by the Central Agency for Organization and Administration to approve the joining of the Students' Hospital to Assiut University Hospitals. This decision was based on the university's request submitted in this regard. Also, Dr. Tarek El-Gammal expressed his sincere thanks to Dr. Walid Hanafi, his legal advisor for medical sector affairs, and Professor Shawkat Saber, Secretary General of the University, for their sincere and tireless efforts to end the procedures.

Moreover, Prof. Shehata Ghareeb, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, stressed the concerted efforts of all sectors to provide specialized health care to the university students. The annual cost for this health care (which varies between medicines for chronic diseases, or diagnostic services, or surgeries) ranges between 20 to 25 million pounds and is covered by the university’s budget. Also, Dr. Ghareeb pointed out to the continued subordination of the General Administration of Medical Affairs to the education and students sector, which is specialized in financing student treatment and in preventive medicine.
