The President of Assiut University announces that a team of students from the Faculty of Engineering has won the fifth place in the world in an international competition in the United States of America for their design of a water-powered robot.

Tarek El-Gamal, President of Assiut University, announced that a team of students from the Faculty of Engineering won the fifth place globally in the “Student Design competition” held within the proceedings of the Engineering Festival organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in the United States for their design, in order to design a water-powered robot.

The President of Assiut University congratulated the winning students, expressing his pride in the university's distinguished students in all fields, who were able to achieve advanced positions in all scientific forums, which enhanced the university's value and position.

Dr. Shehata Ghareeb, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, stated that this competition is a robotics competition that aims to consolidate the use of renewable energy of its various types from year to year and provides an opportunity for student teams to use renewable energy sources to generate energy and use it in operating robots.

He also confirmed that the participation of the student team came within the framework of the Science and Innovation Club activity in the General Administration of Youth Welfare under the supervision of Dr. Ghada Abdel Rahman, the professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Scientific Activity Advisor at the Higher Committee for Activities, and Mr. Ezz El-Din Al-Mansoori, Director General of Youth Welfare, and Mr. Walid Zeidan, Director of the Activity Department. Science sponsored youth.

Dr. Nubi Mohamed Hassan, Dean of the College of Engineering revealed that the student team includes a group of students, all of them from different academic teams in the Departments of Mechanics and Mechatronics, at the College of Engineering, and that the competition is organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers within the activities of the Engineering Festival in the United States of America, which is an affirmation of what the college includes on distinguished students working diligently in order to renew their position, gain advanced places in all international forums, and represent Assiut University in a decent and honorable manner.

Dr. Ezzat Abdel Moneim Marghani, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, indicated that the team consists of 7 students, who are: Nizar Ibrahim, Karim Salah, Mohamed Abdel Radhi, Khaled Jamal, Hassan Kamal, Ramadan Mohamed and Islam Abdel Hadi.

The student team stated that work on the competition was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Saad, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Engineer Rami Antar, the Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and that the competition this year is to design and manufacture a robot that works with water as a single source of propulsion and energy in a simulation of the idea of ​​​​working turbines and dams.
