Assiut University receives representatives of the Chinese company Sinocellitech and BDC to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two sides in the medical sector

Under the auspices of Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, President of Assiut University, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Maha Ghanem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, received university guests from the Chinese company Sinocellitech in Shanghai, led by Dr. Yang Rang, head of the company’s research sector Dr. Yasser Ghoneim, Director of the Research Operations Sector at BDC in the UAE, and Dr. Hani Saeed, Director of the Research Sites Sector at BDC in Egypt, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Alim, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, and Rapporteur of the Central Committee for Professional Ethics and Scientific research, and Dr. Azza Ezz El-Din, Head of Clinical Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, and Dr. Heba Rashid, Director of Infection Control at Assiut University.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy welcomed the university’s guests, stressing the university’s strategy aimed at continuous development of scientific research and its support for all scientific and interdisciplinary research in various disciplines, especially in the field of the medical sector and increasing cooperation with various universities at the local and international levels and research and scientific institutions , due to its huge capabilities of laboratories, advanced equipment, and units with pioneering systems that keep pace with international standards in major countries, stressing the endeavor of the university administration under the leadership of Dr. Tariq El-Gamal, President of the University, to continue supporting scientific research and development and serving all university members.

Prof. Maha Ghanem explained that the meeting included a presentation of the research project on the Corona vaccine for Sinocelltech Company in its third phase with the aim of measuring opinions and effectiveness of the vaccine with the participation of the universities of Assiut, Ain Shams, Mansoura, and the Ministry of Health, noting that Sinocelltech Group is a company specialized in the field of development and sale of medicines, as the company develops and manufactures monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, and other products, explaining that the visit comes within the framework of the university administration's keenness to cooperate with all scientific research bodies and institutions in order to develop medical, health and treatment services provided at the university in  light of the current conditions that the whole world is going through from the spread of the Corona pandemic, which threatens the health of millions of people around the world, which prompts the university to conclude many cooperation agreements with various scientific, research, local and international institutions specialized in the anti-Coronavirus vaccine.

The meeting was also followed by the university's guests heading to inspect the central laboratories of the university hospital, as well as the anti-Coronavirus vaccination points in the faculty members' treatment unit.
