On the occasion of its celebrations
after the passing of 60 years after the establishment of Assiut University, its
president, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis attended the first activity; a lecture entitled
"Assiut, the Capital which has Never been." The lecture aimed at focusing on the
archaeological and historical status of the province. The lecture was given by
Professor Yokhem Kal, Dean of the Archaeological Institute, Berlin University,
and Chairman of the Joint Egyptian-German Mission for Excavation. The lecture
was attended by a number of faculty members from the Departments of Archaeology
from different Egyptian universities, representatives from the Archaeology
Administration, and large number of archaeology students, Faculties of Arts,
Specific Education, and Fine Arts.
