Assiut University Organizes the Second Annual Conference on Infection Control in University Hospitals Under the Theme: “Strategies for a Sustainable, Infection-Free Future”

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Infection Control Department at the university hospitals organized its second annual conference today, Thursday, February 27, under the theme “Strategies for a Sustainable, Infection-Free Future.” The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, Dr. Asmaa El-Darawy, Director of the Infection Control Department and Conference Chair, and Dr. Ehab Abdel Radi, Deputy Director of the Infection Control Department and Conference Rapporteur.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the importance of the conference in discussing the best practices and modern strategies in the field of infection control and improving the quality of health care, in line with GAHAR accreditation standards. He also praised the efforts of the Infection Control Department in educating medical staff and preparing the necessary policies and programs to reduce the spread of infections in university hospitals, in order to preserve the health of patients, workers and the surrounding environment.

The conference was attended by several distinguished figures, including Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Diaa El-Din Abdel Hamid, Head of the Medical Syndicate, Dr. Ehsan Ali Hassan, Director of the Central Administration for Medical and Therapeutic Affairs, and Dr. Ahmed Sayed Moussa, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Assiut. Also present were Dr. Hebatallah Rashid, Honorary President of the Conference, Dr. Karima Mohamed Sobhi, Dr. Rasha Hosny Said, Conference Secretary, and Dr. Michael Adel Attallah, Conference Organizer, alongside a significant number of faculty members, physicians, pharmacists, and nursing staff from Assiut University Hospitals.

The attendees praised the prominent role played by the Infection Control Department at Assiut University Hospitals in reducing the spread of infectious diseases and ensuring adherence to World Health Organization standards for infection prevention.
in addition to highlighting the latest developments in this field and raising the awareness of young doctors, nurses, and workers at university hospitals and hospitals of the Ministry of Health in Assiut.

For her part, Dr. Asmaa Al-Darawy explained that the conference includes many specialized scientific lectures with the participation of a group of professors and experts from various Egyptian universities, where discussions focus on antimicrobial supervision mechanisms to maintain their effectiveness, best practices in infection control according to GAHAR standards, and methods of transmission of various diseases through air, droplets, food, water, and blood.

The conference honored a number of university leaders, the Head of the Medical Syndicate, the Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Assiut, the Director of the Central Department of Medical and Therapeutic Affairs, the President of the Conference, and the participants in recognition of their contributions to the success of the event.

On the sidelines of the conference, five specialized workshops were organized on the development of infection prevention strategies in healthcare, with the participation of a group of specialists in this field.
