Dr. Tarek Al-Jamal, President of Assiut University, stressed that the University bears the streamer of enlightenment, knowledge, spreading awareness, correct concepts, and confronting all negative phenomena and wrong legacies in society. The University also publicizes the sincere efforts being made by the Egyptian State for advancing development in the light of the successive economic crises facing the world and the challenges and difficulties facing the nation that pose a real threat to development. Hence the importance of raising awareness of the obligation of citizens to pay tax rates due on their income or property assets. This is due to the role of tax funds in the construction of national projects and the improvement of comprehensive services provided to citizens in various fields, thus enabling the State to realize its endeavors to achieve the pillars of "Haya Karima" as planned by the political leadership.
This was during the opening of his eminence to the Conference "The Role of Real Estate and Land Tax in Economic Development in Egypt", which is organized by the Public Service Center for Commercial Consulting and Administrative Development at the Faculty of Commerce at Assiut University in cooperation with the Egyptian Real Estate Tax Authority under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Moait, Minister of Finance, and Anwar Fawzi, Head of the Real Estate Tax Authority, In the presence of Dr. Maha Ghanem, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Abdel Salam Noir, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Assiut University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, and Dr. Alaa Abd Al-Hafeez, Vice-dean of the Faculty of Commerce for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Shahir, Director of the Center, Professor Shaukat Saber, Secretary-General of the University, Professor Raafat Hussein, President of the Real Estate Tax Area in Assiut, and a group of administrative leaders of the University. Besides, about 200 trainees participated from the Faculty Staff Members, their assistants, employees of the University, and Tax Authority, students, and graduates.
During the inauguration, Dr. Abdul Salam Nuer praised the university administration’s keenness to cooperate with various governmental and private authorities in holding a number of specialized training programs and conferences on an ongoing basis in all administrative, financial, legal, and professional fields that would collectively improve the efficiency of all members of the university, refine their skills and develop their performance in various disciplines. Also he praised the leading work of the Public Service Center for the commercial consultancies and administrative development in this field. The center keens to provide all scientific and serving capabilities to develop the financial and tax sector, educating citizens of tax financiers and facilitating them.
Dr. Ahmed Shahir, explained that the conference contributes to achieving the main objective of the center, which is to close the gap between the college graduate and the labor market in all its fields through valuable lectures and real training in actual work units. He pointed out that it extends for five days from 6 to 10 March, followed by specialized training in the center, then field training in tax units, including a number of lectures on the general framework of tax bases related to real estate and building lands, accounting for real estate revenues, methods of assessment and collection, accounting for real estate tax, accounting on real estate transactions (buildings and lands), and reservation and appeal procedures on the real estate tax. He added that the lectures are given by a group of experts from the Egyptian Tax Authority, they are Dr. Khaled Mikhail Maraj, Auditor of Real Estate Transactions, 1st Assiut Tax Authority, Dr. Esmat Binyamin, Director of Tax Inspection, 1st Assiut Tax Authority and certified trainer at tax training centers.
