Consulto Conference "Integrative Medicine Discusses the Risks of COVID-19 to Women, especially during Pregnancy and Childbirth in its Scientific Program Next Wednesday"

The Association for Integrative Medicine and Sleep Disorders announced the completion of preparations for the launch of its tenth annual conference entitled "Consulto" at Badr University in Nasser City (Plateau), extended throughout Wednesday and Thursday 11/12 May 2022 under the auspices of Dr. Tariq Al-Jamal, President of Assiut University, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, President of Badr University and the Association and honorary chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed Abdou Geies, former President of Assiut University and member of the Board.

Dr. Susan Salama, Professor of Chest Disease at Assiut University and President of the Conference, said that this year's conference discusses the health situation in various disciplines in light of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and its multiple complications for those infected with COVID-19 through an expanded two-day scientific program that includes a number of general and specialized scientific lectures as well as a number of workshops within the conference programme.

Dr. Susan Salama also revealed that the conference included a scientific session on Wednesday to discuss the dangers of COVID-19 virus to women, with the participation of Dr. Hassan Salah, former Vice Chancellor of Assiut University and Professor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Assiut University, with two distinguished professors in the department, Dr. Mahmoud Abdelalim and Dr. Ahmed Al-Nasr.

Dr Susan Salama added that the scientific session reviews COVID epidemic interactions during pregnancy and childbirth many important points to answer repeated queries common among women that include, for example, whether HIV infection increases the rates of background abnormalities, miscarriages mortality, whether it increases maternal mortality, and what is the best way to deal with the epidemic during pregnancy and childbirth. Otherwise, the scientific session also addresses the presentation of realistic cases to find out the points of correctness and error in dealing with such cases that are considered a routine.

The scientific session also represents the consequences of COVID epidemic on woman seeking pregnancy and pregnant women, especially at the early months of pregnancy, complications of pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal, the impact of the COVID epidemic on the intrauterine fetus and the baby at birth. Dealing with the COVID epidemic during pregnancy and childbirth is a major medical challenge, from diagnostic methods to various vaccines.
