Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, President of Assiut University, confirmed that developing scientific research is one of the university’s most important goals and one of its most important ways to participate in the state’s plan to achieve sustainable development. Also, the president pointed out his pride in the visit of Dr. Walaa Sheta, CEO of the Science, Technology and Innovation Financing Authority. He declared the importance of the Authority's initiative for free scientific publishing in cooperation with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and the international publisher Springer Nature, which is a major step in the way of supporting the scientific research system in Egypt. At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Walaa Sheta praised the political leadership’s keenness to support higher education and develop scientific research. Moreover, he declared their ability to lead the locomotive of development and progress by explaining that this initiative includes all Egyptian universities, research centers and institutes, and scientific cities affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research or other ministries. He also announced that the initiative support open scientific publishing includes support for journals classified as Q1, Q2 and Q3 for a time.
