Tarek El-Gamal, President of Assiut University, announced that the Assiut Motorsport student team won the fifth place in the “Ever Egypt Rally” competition in the “Electric Car Rally” competition, in its fourth season, with the participation of 17 teams from different universities, which was launched in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister Higher Education, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr. Mahmoud El-Matini, President of Ain Shams University, and a group of industrial, investment and higher education men, and heads of a number of universities, in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The President of the University expressed his sincere congratulations to the team members and the College of Engineering, which includes brilliant elements in many fields based on creativity and innovation, who succeeded in achieving many valuable achievements at the local and international levels.
For his part, Dr. Shehata Ghareeb pointed to the importance of the success achieved by the team and its progression from 11th place in the third season to the fifth place in the fourth season in the field of dynamic event.
Dr. Nubi Mohamed Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, also congratulated the winning students, praising the students of the Faculty of Engineering and their brilliance in many knowledgeable and engineering fields and their permanent ability to innovate and develop, which was reflected in their superiority in many local and international competitions during their participation and obtaining many advanced positions stressing the university's keenness to provide all means of material and moral support to the team and to overcome all obstacles facing it, as well as facilitating the procedures for their participation in the competition.
Dr. Gamal Abdel Nasser and Dr. Mohamed Badrett, the team supervisors, explained that the Assiut Motorsport team includes more than 60 students from the electric and mechanics engineering departments and the various faculties of the university, who succeeded in manufacturing the electric car for the second time and participating in the competition through the material and moral support provided by the Academy Scientific and university research, which proceeds according to a clear societal vision that aims in its entirety to create creative ideas suitable for application in projects that serve the community and overcome one of its problems in light of the trend of car companies and the Egyptian state to manufacture electric cars instead of fuel.
The team leader, student Ahmed Azzan, said this season of the competition had many challenges, especially that the car was completely manufactured and tested in just 28 days, yet we achieved fifth place in this season instead of the eleventh in the previous season, and that he and the rest of the team members aspire in achieving the first place during the next season, and we are also working on developing the stages of manufacturing to achieve advanced positions in the future, and in the end, he would like to thank the President of the University, Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Shehata Gharib, the Dean of the College, Dr. Nubi Mohamed Hassan, and the supervising faculty members and all his fellow team members.
