In a new achievement.. Assiut University is among the best international universities according to the QS World University Rankings 2026

As part of its continuous successes in the international arena, Assiut University came among the best international universities in the QS World University Rankings for 2026, where it ranked (1001-1200) at the level of World Universities, and came in fifth place at the level of Egyptian universities, out of 20 Egyptian universities included in the ranking this year.

  Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, explained that the QS rating is one of the most prominent international rankings of universities, where this year he chose the best 1501 universities out of more than 31 thousand universities around the world that applied for the rating, representing 104 countries, which reflects the size of the great international competition in which Assiut University participates.

  Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the achievements achieved in the file of international rankings came as a result of integrated and systematic efforts that succeeded in developing a clear and specific strategy to upgrade the University's classification, pointing out that the university has set its sights on reaching the global, and this vision has become a reality today by classifying Assiut University among a group of prestigious universities globally.

The president of the University added that this success reflects the University's efforts to develop the scientific research system, support international publishing and enhance academic openness to scientific institutions abroad, which contributes to raising the efficiency of education, upgrading the level of graduates and increasing opportunities for international cooperation in various disciplines.

For his side, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and research, explained that the QS World Ranking is issued annually by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British institution specializing in higher education, and aims to evaluate the performance of universities based on a set of criteria that balance academic reputation, the quality of scientific research, international openness, and employment opportunities.

In the same context, Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, director of the International Classification Office at Assiut University, pointed out that the QS World University Rankings is based on key criteria that are the basis for evaluating the performance of universities, namely:
1. Academic reputation (Academic Reputation) by 30%
2. The University's reputation with employers (Employer Reputation) increased by 15%.
3. The ratio of faculty members to the number of students by 10%, to measure the quality of education and academic interaction within the University.
4. The number of research citations per faculty member (Citations per Faculty) increased by 20%, as evidence of the strength of scientific research and its impact.
5. The percentage of international students (International Student Ratio) by 5%, reflecting the diversity of the educational environment and the attractiveness of the University for students from outside the country.
6. The percentage of international faculty members (International Faculty Ratio) by 5%, which reflects the extent of academic diversity and global openness of the University.
7. The employment Outcomes index (Employment Outcomes) increased by 5%, and measures the success of graduates in obtaining influential and valuable jobs.
8. The Sustainability Index is 5%, and measures the University's efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and paying attention to the environment and society.

Dr. Omar Mamdouh stressed that Assiut University's progress in this global ranking is only the result of the solidarity of all sectors of the University and its continuous quest for improvement and development, stressing that the university is continuing to implement a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at strengthening its position on the map of higher education and scientific research internationally.
