The President of Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority visits the research laboratories at the Institute

Dr. Walaa Mohamed Sheta, Executive Director of the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority, praised Assiut University’s specialized laboratories and units in many fields, which are a reference for all members of the university’s faculty and researchers, as well as for many researchers from other universities to conduct their scientific research and increase their research production. He also praised the university’s administration strategy led by Prof.Dr.Tarek Abdalla Morsy El-Gammal, which adopted a focus on the renaissance of scientific research and its advancement through the expansion of the establishment of a number of projects that serve the research and scientific process at the university, which is scheduled to be supported by the authority in the coming period.

This came during his visit to the Molecular Biology Research & Studies Institute, which is one of the university's fledgling institutes that offers distinguished educational programs and conducts applied scientific research in various fields using the latest fields and applications of molecular biology and modern biotechnologies. He was accompanied on the visit by Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the accompanying delegation to the head of the Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority, which includes Mona Fikri Hussein, Director of the Financial Follow-up Department, Maryam Abdel Ghani, Director of the Technical Follow-up Department, and Marwa Ala El-Din, Director of the Programs and Grants Preparation Department, in the presence of Prof.Dr. Asmaa Abdel Nasser, Dean of the Molecular Biology Research & Studies Institute, and Dr. Mohamed Helmy El Hefnawy, Vice Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Engineering Adviser to the President of the University.

In this regard, His Excellency visited all parts of the Institute and its laboratories, including the nucleic acid and protein extraction lab, the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), the electrophoresis lab, the microbiology lab and the tissue and stem cell culture lab. the head of the authority met with staff members, students, researchers and employees of the institute and reviewed the jobs of each laboratory, and listened to a detailed explanation of the devices included in the institute’s laboratories, praising the institute’s distinguished role in providing the opportunity for students and researchers from inside and outside the university to conduct scientific research, which contributes to the expansion and spread of scientific expertise among researchers and provides them with an appropriate scientific environment to conduct their research activity.

During the tour, Dr. Walaa Sheta pointed to the need to increase the bonds of cooperation between Assiut University, as one of the most important and oldest universities in Upper Egypt, and the authority, especially in the field of supporting and developing projects related to basic sciences, as well as projects whose objectives are consistent with the objectives of the state plan to achieve sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030.
