Medicinal Plants Museum
The Medicinal Plants Museum is affiliated to the Pharmacognosy Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The museum is located on the fifth floor, room No. (550) in Building (A) in the faculty, and its area is (8.5 meters x 13 meters).
The idea of this museum began with the beginning of the study in the Faculty of Pharmacy and its beginning was with one cupboard containing medicinal plants that could be imported by the efforts of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Moghazi, founder of the Faculty and successive professor of pharmacology and assistant od faculty members. It contains 180 sample of different medicinal plants or their products listed in the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia and others, and each plant has an identification card containing its active substances, as well as the medicinal uses of the displayed plant.
Students of the Faculty (first, second, and fourth year) benefit from the museum to learn about the studied medicinal plants in their entire form.
The museum is visited by visiting professors from outside Egypt and other Egyptian universities.
