First: College Application Policy

The university affirms its full commitment to implementing the principles of equality and equal opportunities for all students, and strictly prohibits any form of direct or indirect discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex/gender, disability, social origin, economic status, or legal immigration status.

Second: Admission Policy for Academic Programs

  1. The university's admission of students relies on objective, announced, and clear academic criteria, ensuring fairness and integrity in the admission procedures.
  2. It is absolutely forbidden to favor or exclude any applicant based on their racial, religious, or sexual background, disability, immigrant status, or any non-academic considerations.
  3. The university is committed to providing appropriate facilities for students with disabilities during the application and examination procedures, in accordance with the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. 10 of 2018.

Third: University Housing (Dormitory) Accommodation Policy

  1. Student selection is based on objective criteria that include geographical distance, social circumstances, and academic status.
  2. University dormitories provide a suitable environmental setting for students with disabilities (equipped rooms, accessible pathways, technical and psychological support).
  3. The University Housing administration is committed to ensuring the safety, security, and dignified treatment of all students.

Fourth: Policy for Receiving Educational Services and Participation in Activities

  1. The university guarantees the right of all students to access educational services without any form of discrimination and is committed to providing a safe and suitable educational environment that ensures equal opportunities, as well as participation in cultural, sports, and social activities.
  2. The university provides the necessary educational facilities for students with disabilities to ensure their full participation. The university is also committed to providing inclusive and adapted activities for students with disabilities to ensure their complete and effective participation.
  3. The university guarantees fair access to all academic materials, including lectures, libraries, and electronic platforms.
  4. Faculty members and staff are prohibited from engaging in any discrimination in teaching, assessment, or academic support.
  5. The university is committed to implementing periodic training and awareness programs to enhance the culture of respecting rights and equality, and to ensure the application of these policies across all departments and affiliated units.

Fifth: Complaints and Protection Mechanism

  1. The university provides a formal complaints system that allows students to report any instances of discrimination or violation of rights.
  2. Complaints are handled with strict confidentiality and through mechanisms based on neutrality and transparency.
  3. Any retaliatory actions against the complainant are prohibited, and appropriate penalties are applied to violators in accordance with the regulations (a link for complaints and suggestions is available within each college on the university website).

Report prepared to outline the services provided by the General Administration of University Hostels during the academic year 2024 / 2025, including services offered to students with special needs, financial support granted to students, and details of accommodation fees and approved rates.

 

Assiut University hostels are keen to provide the highest quality of comprehensive services and care for all male and female students, with special attention to students with special needs. This approach reflects the University’s humanitarian and social role in supporting and empowering them to achieve full integration into university life. Below is a summary of the key services provided during the academic year 2024 / 2025: · The university hostels offer full financial and moral support for students with special needs. This includes specially equipped accommodation that meets their mobility and accessibility requirements to ensure comfort in their living spaces. · The hostels also provide a safe and inclusive environment, full care, sports, cultural, and religious activities, and free meals for these students. Two residential units are allocated for students with special needs, with a total of 59 students. The hostels have also designated Unit (B), the premium unit, fully equipped with the necessary facilities for comfort, and Unit (C), which accommodates some students with special needs from various faculties. · University hostels accept students from within and outside the governorate without discrimination or distance restriction, ensuring equal opportunities for all.

 

 Accommodation is also provided for students who wish to reside in specific units according to their preferences, such as Units (Z) and (Ain).

 Furthermore, five residential units are allocated for female students with special needs, comprising 52 students from different faculties (L, M, N, 8, and 16). These units offer an appropriate environment with full financial and moral support, in addition to free meals similar to those provided for male students.

 The hostels also provide financial assistance for special medical cases, where students are exempted from monthly fees after paying the first instalment. Accommodation remains free for the rest of the academic year, reflecting the University’s continued care for its students.

Number of students benefiting from accommodation during the academic year 2024 / 2025:

 Male students: 4,168

 Female students: 8,278

Services Provided by the University Hostels

The University Hostels provide 11 residential units for male students and 19 residential units for female students.

Assiut University and the General Administration of University Hostels affirm their continued commitment to offering comprehensive care and full support for all students, reflecting the University’s dedication to the principles of justice, equality, equal opportunities, and the promotion of sustainable development goals.

 

Accommodation Fees for the Academic Year 2024 / 2025

The University Council, in its session No. (752) held on 28 February 2024, approved the annual accommodation fees for students residing in the University Hostels for the academic year 2024 / 2025 as follows:

First Category:

For new students admitted to faculties with a general secondary score above 85% (science stream) and 80% (arts stream), and for returning students with a grade of Excellent: (a) Amount paid at the beginning of accommodation (annual fee): EGP 610 (b) Monthly accommodation fee: EGP 375

Second Category:

For new students with a general secondary score between 80% – less than 85% (science) and 75% – less than 80% (arts), and for returning students with a grade of Very Good: (a) Amount paid at the beginning of accommodation (annual fee): EGP 680 (b) Monthly accommodation fee: EGP 450

Third Category:

For new students with a general secondary score between 75% – less than 80% (science) and 70% – less than 75% (arts), and for returning students with a grade of Very Good under the credit-hour system: (a) Amount paid at the beginning of accommodation (annual fee): EGP 875 (b) Monthly accommodation fee: EGP 550

Fourth Category:

For new students with a general secondary score below 75% (science) and 70% (arts), and for returning students with grades of Pass or Transferred with One or Two Subjects: (a) Amount paid at the beginning of accommodation (annual fee): EGP 1,000 (b) Monthly accommodation fee: EGP 700

 

University Hostels’ Services and Development Initiatives

As part of Assiut University’s continuous efforts to improve services for students residing in university hostels and to ensure a safe, healthy, and stimulating academic environment that promotes learning and creativity, the General Administration of University Hostels pays special attention to developing its facilities and diversifying services in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the State’s vision for enhancing quality of life.

1. Safety and Security:

 Providing the highest levels of safety within all residential units located within a secured complex surrounded by a perimeter fence.

 Continuous 24-hour trained security personnel for students’ safety.

 A CCTV monitoring system covering entrances, corridors, and courtyards.

 Regular awareness campaigns on personal safety and evacuation procedures.

2. Nutrition Services:

 Each residential unit includes a well-equipped restaurant offering daily meals that meet precise health and safety standards.

 Continuous food quality inspection by specialised supervisory committees.

 Periodic medical check-ups for kitchen staff.

 Diverse meals to meet different dietary needs and health conditions.

3. Student Activities:

 Comprehensive programmes covering cultural, artistic, social, sports, and religious activities.

 Internal competitions and participation in national events representing the University.

 Sports fields and halls for various activities.

 Designated study halls and internet lounges for students.

 

 Psychological and social support programmes promoting a balanced, creative environment.

4. Health Care:

 On-site medical clinics staffed with doctors and nurses available 24 hours a day.

 Ambulances equipped for emergency cases.

 Medical follow-up for students with chronic illnesses and special needs.

 Health awareness campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, and infection prevention.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance:

 Applying the highest standards of cleanliness inside and outside residential units through dedicated teams working around the clock.

 Regular maintenance for electricity, plumbing, electrical appliances, and water filtration systems to ensure uninterrupted services and safe drinking water.

6. Religious and Social Services:

 Providing mosques and prayer halls.

 Organising religious and cultural seminars in coordination with the University’s Religious Guidance Centre.

 Offering financial support to underprivileged students to ensure equal opportunities.

7. Educational and Community Services:

 Centres for photocopying academic papers and materials.

 Study halls for group and individual learning.

 Supporting digital transformation through internet access across most hostel units.

8. Environmental Sustainability:

 Promoting environmental sustainability through efficient use of water and electricity.

 Using energy-saving lighting systems.

 Preserving green areas and planting trees around hostels.

 Spreading environmental awareness among students.

The university administration works to achieve the principle of equal opportunities in the university community, and the concept of equal chances aims to ensure that everyone, regardless of their gender, race, religion, or any other specified characteristics, has equal opportunities to access resources, rights, and benefits in society.

The Equal Opportunities Unit takes a series of measures and policies to contribute to achieving this goal. For example, it can work on combating discrimination, promoting awareness of human rights, and encouraging community partnership to ensure equal opportunities. The unit aims to create a positive society where everyone is equal in terms of opportunities and treatment, and to reduce discrimination and differentiation based on any unfair basis.

Human Rights Studies and Research Center, Assiut University

 The Center's objectives according to its regulations

1. Conduct specialized studies in the field of human rights, especially about women's and children's rights.

2. Conduct and supervise field research in the field of human rights in cooperation with specialized government agencies and in partnership with research centers at the university.

3. Prepare training programs in the field of human rights for employees at universities and relevant agencies.

4. Prepare specialized educational programs in the field of human rights for employees at government agencies.

5. Prepare programs for seminars, conferences and study groups in the field of human rights.

6. Prepare and implement specialized general human rights culture programs for students.

7. Recommend the preparation of university curricula for human rights and support the development of university curricula.
