Secondary to the poverty problem in the community. The university and since its starts formulate a a special food administration unit in AU responsible for students and university hospital catering. This unit is under the complete supervision of human and animal health authorities. The university financially supports the food meals to its students by more than 50 million Egyptian pounds in 2021. The university is doing each effort to reduce any wastes as they only daily produce meals according to the required meals through coupons provided by the youth administration of the faculties. AU provided many outlets for food products including fruits and vegetables from the products of its farm and processed food of different kinds including gluten-free products (attached reports).
Assiut university extends its support to the local farmers and animal breeders in the surrounding communities. This is through providing seeds and strains of animals to increase food production. Moreover, the faculty of agriculture and veterinary medicine organized many convoys to the surrounding communities (report enclosed)
