The Webomatrics assessment is an international assessment evaluation by one of the research centres of Spain's largest public research body, which measures the effective presence of universities on the Internet, it currently evaluating 30,000 universities around the world.
The Webometrics organization publishes its rankings every six months, announces them in the first and seventh months each year.
Assiut University has achieved significant progress in the ranking since 2010 until now, its rank from 4190 in July 2010 to 1552 in July 2020
This classification is carried out annually by the British institution (Quacquarelli Simmonds), it depends on raising the international criteria level for universities and colleges. also, strengthening its role in scientific research and enhancing employers’ trust in graduate students. The top 500 universities in the world are chosen according to several criteria.
Assiut University began appearing in this assessment since 2019 after interest in sending correct data about the university in addition to a list of candidates from academics and employees to the Qs questionnaire.
This classification is issued by the British Times Council and it is one of the most objective global classifications at the university level in the world, relying on 13 performance indicators through more comprehensive and balanced comparisons between universities.
The Times Impact Classification was introduced in 2018 to evaluate universities according to their capacity for community impact .

The American classification is based on research activity, which includes several criteria in evaluation relating to the quality and reputation of research, produced by the University locally and internationally, also the number of research papers produced by the University, scientific books, international conferences, the extent, output of international cooperation and the number of citations to the University's research.
The Shanghai World University Classification, known as the "Academic ranking of the World's Universities" (ARWU), is based on performance in scientific research.
