Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, the university president, announced that Assiut University has been shortlisted  in 15 scientific speciality in the US News 2024 Subjects ranking. The university ranked 75th globally in Polymer Science, 124th in Pharmacology and Toxicology, 205th in Energy and Fuels, 267th in Plant and Animal Science, 255th in Agricultural Sciences, 256th in Physical Chemistry, 259th in Engineering Sciences, 326th in Chemistry, 438th in Biology and Biochemistry, 342nd in Materials Science, 414th in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 417th in Physics, 569th in Environmental Sciences, 690th in Medical Sciences, and 737th in Computer Science. This ranking includes 2,500 universities around the globe 

Dr. Gamal Badr, the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, added that the US News ranking is based on several criteria focusing mainly on the academic success of universities, including local and global reputation, published research and its impact, international cooperation, and awarding of Ph.D. degrees.

Dr. Amr Abu Fadan, the Deputy Director of the International Academic Ranking Office, pointed out that due to the university administration's focus on scientific research and encouraging researchers in various scientific fields, the university has appeared in the US News scientific subject ranking in 15 scientific fields compared to 8  fields in the previous record. These specialties of excellency  are Biology and Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Sciences, Materials Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physical Chemistry, Physics, and Plant and Animal Science.
