On Sunday, November 1, 2026, the administration of the Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University—represented by Dean Prof. Khaled Salah; Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research Prof. Shehata El-Dabaa Abdel-Rahim; and Director of the Quality Assurance Unit Prof. Mahmoud Eneib Othman—held an extensive meeting with the faculty. The session took place in the Prof. Abdel-Moneim Hassan Kamel Lecture Hall within the Department of Architecture and was attended by department heads, program coordinators, former faculty leaders, and academic staff.
The meeting began with a welcome to all attendees. The faculty administration then addressed several general challenges, including shortages in support staff—such as laborers, technicians, and administrative personnel—as well as a lack of equipment, including computers, chairs, and other necessary supplies. Concerns were also raised regarding procurement procedures and the increasing strain on the faculty’s self-generated financial resources.
Regarding academic matters, the administration highlighted its key priorities: finalizing new regulations for both postgraduate and undergraduate programs—aligned with the 2026 reference framework and based on a credit-hour system—and completing the requirements for institutional and programmatic accreditation for the Civil Engineering and Architecture Engineering programs. The administration emphasized several key requirements, including finalizing all course-related matters, ensuring the completion of necessary administrative and procedural steps, and promptly addressing requests from academic departments. Furthermore, it urged the supporting academic staff to contribute to quality assurance requirements—while ensuring they are provided with the appropriate working conditions—and stressed the importance of preparing annual faculty reports, which are both a legal and a quality-related necessity. Additionally, the college administration highlighted its commitment to responding to feedback gathered through surveys conducted among faculty members and college management.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the floor was opened for discussion. Faculty members shared their insights and proposals for advancing the educational and research processes and overcoming existing challenges. For its part, the college administration reaffirmed its dedication to listening to diverse perspectives and leveraging them to support ongoing development and achieve the college’s objectives.
