The Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) for graduate students for the year 2026.

The Office of International Relations and Arab Universities Affairs, in cooperation with the Japanese Language Center at Assiut University, announces the opening of applications for the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) for graduate students for the year 2026.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Only Egyptian students are eligible.
2. Under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2026.
3. Holders of a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 75% (GPA 3 out of 4).
4. Required language proficiency:
• English: IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL iBT 79 / CEFR B2.
• Japanese (for students majoring in Japanese only): JLPT N2.
5. Students who are currently enrolled at a university or research institution and are continuing their studies in the same field they wish to study in Japan.
6. Only undergraduate, master's, or doctoral students are eligible to apply, and preference is given to those who expect to return to the Arab Republic of Egypt after completing their studies in Japan.

Important Information
• The Embassy of Japan in the Arab Republic of Egypt will select approximately 11 preliminary candidates through document screening, language tests, and interviews.
• Candidates selected as preliminary candidates by the Embassy will be recommended to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology for a second screening.
• Following the Embassy's recommendation to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, preliminary candidates must obtain admission from a university in Japan.
• Please note that the written language examinations will only be held at a designated location in Cairo on the specified date. Attendance from outside Egypt is not permitted, and online examinations are not available.
