History of establishment of the center

• Center of Russian language study was opened in November 2008 and was joined to the foreign language centers in January 2009.

• Centre was established as the product of a long history of relations between the University of Assiut, and universities of the Russian Federation and the CIS.

• Prof. Dr. / Salah Hassanein Mohamed Abou-Elhawa has been in charge as a supervisor of the center.

Objectives of the center

Disseminating and teaching the Russian language in Upper Egypt for students and graduates who wish from different disciplines.

Language rehabilitation of master and PhD students before traveling abroad.

Training who wish to master the Russian language speech from inside and outside the university for use in different areas (especially tourism).

Training of specialists to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between Assiut University  and Russian universities in the field of higher education.

Assisting in the completion of joint academic programs between Assiut University and Russian universities within the framework of international and local norms.

Assisting the University in the performance of its mission in education, training and scientific research.

Expanding relations between Assiut University and Russian universities and universities of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Contributing of the center in preparing teaching halls for teaching Arabic language for  interested students from Russian universities, through agreements with Assiut University.

Providing an opportunity for Egyptian students to learn about the culture of the Russian people.
