Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut
University President, the University hosted the proceedings of a training
program for raising national awareness from 13-14 September 2017. The program
was organized by the National Council for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the
Centre for Studies and Research on Human Rights. Dr. Nabil Samuel, member of the
NCW, Ms Sahar Abdel-Mawla, Chair, of NCW Assiut Branch, Isis Mahmoud General
Director of Training and Awareness, Christine Fekry, Administrative Coordinator
of the University's Anti-Harassment Unit, Journalist Nashwa Al-Houfy, Member of
the NCW, and a number Professors and participants have all attended the program
which hosted about 150 participants from Assiut and Sohag Governorates. In the
opening session, Dr Nabil Samuel asserted that this campaign aims at forming one
team of female preachers from Al-Awqaf and Church Nuns to work together and toll
the ports to reach women at every small village and town. The purpose is to see
women's problems and demands considering that women are the basic sources and
partners in building the family and the entire nation.
