Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, Acting President of Assiut University, praised the university scholarship programs, which represent an opportunity to transfer international expertise and skills keeping pace with the times. The programs aim at preparing a graduate capable of facing challenges in a way that helps in achieving the goals of sustainable development. Such development is done by providing opportunities for university education based on the foundations of knowledge, innovation and scientific research. Thus, the programs offer opportunities to conduct scientific research that will create a positive and effective impact on students, educational institutions and the Egyptian society as a whole.
This came in response to the participation of Dr. Maha Ghaim, Vice President of Assiut University for Community Service and Environmental Development, in the meeting that was held on the sidelines of the events of the reception of the third batch of the University Scholarships Program presented by the United States Agency for International Development at the American University in Cairo. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Ahmed Dallal, President of the American University in Cairo; Ms. Leslie Reed, Head of Mission of the USAID in Egypt; and representatives of the Egyptian universities participating in the USAID University Scholarship Program for the academic year 2022/2023.
Dr. Maha Ghaim indicated that the aim of this meeting is to formulate new educational programs aimed at rooting the principle of creativity and innovation, in order to provide opportunities for young researchers to benefit from them. Also, she noted that the USAID grant program is just one example of the many successful ongoing projects between the Ministry of Higher Education, Egyptian universities, the American Agency for International Development in Egypt and the American University in Cairo. Finally, she declared that the program contributes effectively to exchanging of experiences and refining the skills necessary to keep pace with the rapid development in society.
