Prof. Maha Kamel Ghannam, Acting President of Assiut University, received a report from Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, Director of the International Ranking Office at the University, indicating that Assiut University ranked third among the best Egyptian universities, after Cairo University and Ain Shams University, according to QS Global Ranking by Quacquarelli Symonds. The latest ranking included 14 universities across the country, with Egypt being the highest represented African country in the QS ranking, which covered 32 universities in the continent only, ranked during 2023. This represents the university's continued progress in the major international rankings of the best universities in the world.
Prof. Maha Ghannam praised this achievement for Assiut University and Egyptian universities, which represents the fruit of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's interest in implementing the political leadership's directives to elevate the ranking of Egyptian universities and research institutions in international rankings. The ministry's serious measures to achieve this goal included the technical support provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank for Egyptian universities, as well as training on international publication, in addition to the universities' incentives for researchers at all academic levels to publish in prestigious international journals and the distinguished appreciation of scientific research published internationally by scientific promotions committees, and the availability of information sources for researchers through the Internet and cooperation with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban also explained in his report that, besides Assiut University, Alexandria University and Future University also appeared in the third position, with a ranking of (1001-1200), according to QS Global ranking, which relies on several criteria, including academic reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, and others.
Assiut University continues its progress in international rankings.
