Prof.
Mohammed Abdel Sameia, President of Assiut University, has met Dr. Hiroshi
Yoshino, Professor of Architecture, Tohoku University and Chairman of the
Japanese Architects Association in the presence of a number of Egyptian
Professors of Architecture including Prof. Murad Abdel-Qader Abdel-Mohsen from
Ain Shams University and Prof. Mohammed Momen Afifi from Cairo University. In
their honor, Prof. Abdel- Sameia has granted them the University’s Memorial
Plaque for their distinction and contribution to the field of Architecture.
During his visit to Assiut University, the Japanese professor delivered a
lecture at the Faculty of Engineering on "The Current Situation and Future
Development of Energy and the Environment at Japanese Buildings and
Constructions." In his lecture, the Japanese professor surveyed the strategies
used to save energy: the use of solar cells to generate energy, reliance on
natural lighting in buildings, and avoidance of industrial ventilation. Prof.
Yoshino has also met the Chairman of the Department of Architecture and a number
of Faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering where they exchange ideas and
experiences in the field.
It is worth noting that Prof. Hiroshi Yoshino is one of most distinguished
professors in his field worldwide. He has participated in the preparation of the
Fourth Evaluating Report issued by the Intergovernmental Organization concerned
with the climate change; the report winning the 2007 Nobel Prize for the
Organization’s efforts in spreading knowledge about the impacts of climate
change and how to manage them.
