Dr. Hisham Abdel-Rehim Al-Qadi, Professor of Orthopedics, Faculty of Medicine,
Assiut University and Director of the Arthroscopic and Sports Injuries Unit,
Assiut University Hospital, obtained the patent No. 24620 in the medical field
from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The patent was obtained
for devising “An External Fixing Bolt,” a simple and economical set to fix
complex fractures relevant to the wounds of the long bones such as: tibia,
femur, and humerus. The set has been also registered as patent No EG24620 (A) in
the European Patent Office. As soon as it was manufactured and applied
successfully on several cases, Dr. Al-Qadi has granted five sets of his newly
invented device to the needy patients in the Injuries Unit at Assiut University
Hospital.
Dr. Al-Qadi is one of the most distinguished professors in arthroscopic surgery
and sports injuries and knee treatment. He has also supervised 45 Masters and
Doctorate theses and Dissertation, member of the Committee of Promoting
Professors and Associate Professors of Orthopedics, besides an international
reputation through his membership in a number of International societies such as
the Orthopedics International Society, Arab Orthopedic Association,
Middle-Eastern Society for Laparoscopic Surgery, Knee Injuries, the European
Society for Laser and Light Biology, and the International Society of Geography.
In addition to this, Dr. Al-Qadi has participated in more than 14 international
conferences in Arab and foreign countries such as: KSA, Syria, Morocco, Lebanon,
China, India, and the Czech Republic.
Dr. Al-Qadi has also stated that he had also obtained another a previous patent
from the European Patent Office of the European for his invention of plastic
tube to protect the fiber quartz end in the laser tool used in arthroscopic
surgeries. This plastic device has been used in several laser endoscopic
surgeries. Besides, he had also got a patent for inventing a femoral hook to be
used in the patching of the bottom string of the femur in cases of anterior
cruciate ligament. This devise has been practically used for more than 34 cases.
