Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, announced the inclusion of the British Times website for Assiut University in the 29th place in the Arab world and the fifth at the level of the Egyptian public universities, in the British Times classification of institutions of higher education for Arab universities in its second edition of the classification of universities in the Arab world for the year 2022.
Prof. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, Director of the University’s International Classification Office, explained that the Times classification of Arab universities is based on the same methodology as that Times of international universities based on five main areas: teaching (learning environment) 30%, research (volume or rate of research productivity, income Research, reputation) 30%, citations (research impact) 30%, international prestige (international students, international professors, international cooperation) 7.5%, and industry application (knowledge transfer) 2.5%, with some modifications and the inclusion of some new measures such as the degree of Scientific cooperation between Arab countries and the impact of research published in the Arabic language.
It is worth noting that the Arab ranking of universities includes this year 169 universities from 15 Arab countries, and Egypt occupies the first place in the number of participations in the classification, as 34 Egyptian universities were included among the top 100 Arab universities.
