During his visit to Malaysia, Dr Mostafa M. Kamal signed two
agreements: one for cooperation through which Malaysian students pursue their
studies at Assiut University, the second provides opportunities for Malaysian
investment Assiut Governorate.
Dr. Mostafa M. Kamal, President of Assiut University has recently
arrived from Malaysia after a short visit within the scientific and cooperation
exchange protocol between Assiut University and the Institute for Quran
Sciences, Malaysia. Dr Kamal indicated that the visit was basically to pursue
what has been achieved between the University and the Malaysian side; being
endorsed by the University's hosting a number of 19 Malaysian students who are
currently enrolled as students at the Faculty of Dentistry this year. Dr Kamal
added that his meetings and discussions with Malaysian officials were very
positive since they reached an agreement through which 45 more Malaysian
students will be joining the Faculty of Dentistry next December. Dr Kamal also
added that they agreed to widen the scope of scientific disciplines and programs
for Malaysian students so that they can join Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy
in the near future. Besides, the discussions came up with a similar agreement
allowing up to 600 Malaysian students from different Malaysian educational
institutions to come to the university for durations extending from three to six
months to study Arabic and Islamic Studies. Furthermore, two more agreements
were signed by the president and the International Islamic University, Malaysia,
and the University for Administration and Science. The president assured that
his visit included meetings with some investors to encourage them to consider
the prospectus investment opportunities in Assiut Governorate. For this purpose,
and out of the University's role as partner in its community development, Dr.
Kamal has already arranged for a visit to be paid by the Malaysian side to the
Governorate to study the possibility of cooperation between Assiut Governorate
and Kuala Lumpur Province.
