An entertaining Nile trip for Indian students to promote cultural exchange in cooperation between the University and Assiut Governorate

As part of the celebration of the International Yoga Day, Assiut University, under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, in cooperation with Assiut Governorate, and with the support of Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, governor of Assiut, organized an entertaining Nile trip for female students from India, with the participation of 14 Indian female students from the University's faculties, in a cultural and recreational atmosphere aimed at promoting cultural exchange and human communication between peoples.

This event comes as part of the activities accompanying the annual celebration organized by the University in cooperation with the embassy of the Republic of India and the Indian Cultural Center, to commemorate the eleventh International Day of yoga, emphasizing the importance of openness to other cultures and deepening the bonds of friendship between peoples through joint educational, awareness and artistic activities.

Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University places the support of international students at its top priority, and seeks to provide an integrated educational and cultural environment that enables them to integrate into university life and interact with the local community, praising the fruitful cooperation with Assiut Governorate and the opportunities it achieves for integration in community service and enhancing cultural awareness.

He added that such events embody the University's societal role in addition to its academic role, and contribute to consolidating the values of mutual understanding and coexistence, and supporting cultural relations between Egypt and friendly countries.

The trip began with the gathering in front of the Olympic Village at the University, and then headed to the Assiut tourist Marina in front of the Faculty of specific education, where the Nile tour started, and witnessed musical and artistic performances by the Assiut Palace of Culture band led by Maestro Hossam El Din Hosni, in addition to the participation of Indian students with singing passages of Indian heritage, which added to the atmosphere of cultural interaction and joy.

The trip was held under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Qora, general supervisor of the Olympic Village, Dr. Madiha Darwish, general supervisor of student activities, Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, Director General of Student Welfare, Dr. Amr Sayed Hassan, executive director of the Office of International Student Welfare, Dr. Jamal Abdul Nasser, director general of the central region of the cultural level, as well as a number of student welfare officials and the Assiut Palace of culture.

The Indian students expressed their great happiness to participate in this initiative, and thanked the university administration and Assiut governorate for the warm reception and organization, pointing out that the trip represented a rich opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Nile River and learn about the cultural heritage of Assiut Governorate.

It is noteworthy that the activities of the International Yoga Day were launched on Tuesday morning, June 17, in the covered Hall of the Olympic village, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi, president of the University, Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, governor of Assiut, ambassador Suresh Reddy, ambassador of the Republic of India in Cairo, Dr. Baraka Chowdhury, director of the Maulana Azad Indian Cultural Center and cultural adviser at the embassy, as well as a number of university leaders, officials, Egyptian students and expatriates from the state of India.
