Assiut University President Meets Saudi Health Officials

Prof.  Mohammed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University, met Dr. Ziyad Sowaidan general supervisor of  Medical Compounds Projects,  Eng.  Hamad Al-Lahaidan , and Eng. Abdullah Al-Quiby, Directors of a number of Hospital Projects, Ministry of Health, KSA. In their visit to Assiut University, the Saudi guests attended the defense of a Master’s Thesis in Architectural Engineering entitled as “The Role of  Architectural Design in minimizing Infection in Hospitals and Therapeutic Compounds in Egypt.” The thesis is submitted by Mohammed Helmy Al-morsy, Assistant Lecturer of Architectural Engineering, Sohag University, and a designer of a number of Assiut University Hospital projects. The University President held a meeting gathering the Saudi guest and a number of eminent Egyptian professors of Architectural Engineering such as Dr. Magda M. Metwally, Professor, National Centre for Research on Housing and Building, Dr Zakiya H. Shafaeiy, Dr. Omar M. Kamal, professors of Architectural Engineering, Cairo University, and external examiners of the candidate. Dr. Abdel Samiea asserted the significance of the research in relation to the field of development  of hospitals to establish an integrated  health system coping with the modern international standards. This system, the present added, includes proper criteria for architectural finishing and engineering network that fight the spread on infection. Eventually, this will elevate the health quality service provided in Egypt.   on its interest in the search for his role in the development of hospitals, which would create a system of integrated health according to modern international standards which can be achieved by choosing the proper standards for finishing architectural and engineering systems , which operate in the fight against infection which helps in upgrading the quality of medical service provided in Egypt. He further added that the state is in need for scientists and specialists in the field of Medical engineering and planning and their contribution to the design and execution of health projects at the various stages; a process followed in most advanced countries.
