Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, witnessed today, Wednesday, February 26, the launch of the "Indian Cultural Day", organized by the University in cooperation with the Indian Cultural Center, in the presence of Dr. Prakash Kumar Chowdury, cultural advisor to the embassy of India and director of the Indian Cultural Center.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president of the University for graduate studies and research, Dr. Rahab El-dakhli, media advisor to the president of the University, professor Shaukat saber, secretary general of the University, a number of deans of Colleges, faculty members, Professor Osama al-Sayed, assistant secretary general, as well as Professor Mohammed said, Coordinator of cultural programs at the embassy of India, professor Inji Shohdi, Assistant Coordinator of cultural programs at the embassy of India, and students.

At the beginning of his speech, the president of the university extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Prakash Kumar and all the participants in this special event, praising their efforts in organizing events that carry messages of love and understanding between different cultures.

Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University believes in the importance of strengthening the bonds of cultural cooperation between peoples, which is embodied in this celebration, which reflects the depth of cultural relations between Egypt and India, which date back for thousands of years, pointing out that such events contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

He added that the Indian Cultural Day at Assiut University is a celebration of art, heritage and joint academic cooperation, and its aim is to identify the ancient Indian culture and cultural exchange between students, in line with the University's mission to promote cultural diversity and respect for different civilizations.

Dr. El-Minshawy explained that the celebration includes many distinguished events, such as yoga exhibitions, which highlight this deep spiritual practice, along with high-end art shows reflecting the authentic Indian heritage, as well as an exhibition of Indian handicrafts, which reflects the craftsmanship of traditional industries in India.

The president of Assiut University concluded his speech expressing his hope that this day will be full of learning and knowledge, which will contribute to strengthening human and cultural relations between Egypt and India.

For his side, Dr. Prakash Kumar, director of the Indian Cultural Center and cultural adviser to the embassy of India, on behalf of the embassy of India in Cairo and Maulana Azad Center for Indian culture, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Assiut University for the good reception, praising the fruitful cooperation that resulted in the organization of this cultural event. He stressed the importance of cultural exchange to introduce students to Indian heritage and history, valuing the depth of historical relations between the two countries, which date back to ancient times. He also expressed his aspiration for further cooperation in the coming years to strengthen cultural ties between India and Egypt.

Dr. Prakash Kumar pointed out that Egypt and India are one of the greatest civilizations in the world, and also pointed out that the history of cultural exchange between the two civilizations dates back to the Pharaonic era, pointing to the signing of the first cultural agreement between the two countries, which contributed to hosting cultural teams on a mutual basis within the framework of the cultural exchange program.

He also explained that the Maulana Azad Center for Indian culture in Cairo offers many cultural activities, such as yoga classes, Kathak classical dance, Hindi language classes, as well as cultural events and workshops, in cooperation with Egyptian authorities to strengthen bilateral cultural relations.

The cultural advisor of the embassy of India concluded his speech by pointing out that the Indian Cultural Day includes outstanding artistic performances, including Indian dances inspired by Bollywood films, as well as a classical Kathak dance show, wishing the attendees to enjoy the cultural events.

The event was organized by Ms. Asmaa Ibrahim Mahmoud, Director General of the General Department of scientific and Cultural Relations, Mr. Hossam Omar, Director of the Department of cultural conventions and conferences, and Ms. Amira Jalal al gharbali from the Department of cultural conventions and conferences.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy presented the Shield of Assiut University to Dr. Prakash Kumar, who in turn presented a souvenir gift to the president of Assiut University, expressing gratitude and appreciation for this distinctive cultural event.
