Assiut University students create a graduation project on "design of the International Center for Advanced Sciences and Arts in Assiut New City"

  Assiut University witnessed, on Thursday, July 10, the discussion of the graduation project of the fifth batch of the architecture department at the Faculty of Fine Arts for the academic year 2024/2025, which was entitled "design of the International Center for Advanced Sciences and Arts in the new city of Assiut", under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president for education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Helmy Al-Hefnawy, dean of the college.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the university pays great attention to student graduation projects, as a reflection of the level of knowledge and creativity of students, and a practical opportunity to apply their acquired academic and technical skills, pointing out that this year's project is a distinguished model in linking architecture with sustainable development issues, as it aims to create an interactive environment that contributes to enrich the cultural, scientific and artistic movement, and supports the local economy in the new city of Assiut.

The president of the University added that the project represents an ambitious vision that contributes to supporting urban and economic development through the establishment of research and technical institutions and centers that provide job opportunities and open new horizons in the fields of research, education, media, and the arts.

He explained that the number of students participating in the project amounted to 107 students, and their projects were distributed on a set of integrated ideas, most notably: a studio complex for television and film production, an International Center for renewable energy and nanotechnology, a branch of an international museum, and the iconic tower (administrative – hotel – commercial).

Dr. El-Minshawy praised the efforts of students and faculty members, stressing that the university will continue to support all innovative ideas that serve the community and keep pace with the aspirations of the New Republic.

  The discussion was held in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Helmy Al-Hefnawi, dean of the college and its undersecretary for graduate studies and research and head of the Department of architecture, with the participation of the project supervisors from the faculty members, namely: Dr. Rasha Mazen, Dr. Adham Mokhtar, Dr. Ahmed Hosny, in addition to the assistant faculty of the department, and the presence of the vice deans of the college, faculty members and students.

  For his side, Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula praised the high creative and artistic level shown by the students of the Department of architecture, stressing that the projects they submitted reflect their outstanding abilities and professionalism, stressing the University's keenness to discover and support the talents of its students, and provide a supportive environment that allows them to release their creative energies.

   Dr. Mohamed Helmy Al-Hefnawi thanked and appreciated the university administration for its constant support for all academic and technical activities at the college, and also expressed his pride in the outstanding level provided by the students, pointing out that the graduation projects are a real opportunity to highlight the experience and knowledge gained by students during their years of study, which was clearly shown during the discussions.

Dr. Al-Hefnawi added that this year's project aims to create an exchange environment for knowledge and experiences that contribute to supporting sustainable development and the development of the new city of Assiut through various projects.

   At Assiut University, Dr. Khaled Salah, Dr. Ezzat Abdel Moneim, Dr. Mohamed Helmy El Hefnawy, Dr. Tarek Galal, Dr. Amal Abdel Warith, Dr. Abdel Raouf Ali Hassan, Dr. Wael Hussein, Dr. Rabie Mohamed, Dr. Salwa Abdel Rahman, Dr. Ayman Hashem Abdel Rahman, Dr. Soumya Taha Abou El Fadl, Dr. Ahmed Refaat, Dr. Mostafa Abdelkarim Club, Dr. Rasha Mazen, Dr. Adham Mokhtar, and Dr. Ahmed Hosni.

Dr. Ashraf Abu Al-Oyoun, Dr. Ismail Ahmed, Dr. Rufida Al-Attar and Dr. Yasser Salah al-Din also participated from Minya University, Dr. Fatima Othman from Sohag University, and Hisham Al-Qadi from Al-Azhar University in Qena.

At the end of the event, the attendees expressed their admiration for the level of students and the quality of the ideas and designs presented, stressing that this generation of Young Architects is able to make real contributions to the development of the urban landscape in Egypt.
