On Tuesday, July 1, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, witnessed the inauguration of the outpatient clinics building at the new Manfalut Central Hospital , during a field visit accompanied by Major General Dr. Hisham Abu El-Nasr, Assiut Governor, Dr. Mohamed Zein, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the governorate, along with a medical delegation from Assiut University Hospitals. The delegation inspected the quality of medical services provided, as well as the hospital’s human and technical resources, as part of efforts to support the healthcare system in Upper Egypt and improve the quality of care delivered to citizens.

The visit aligns with the state’s directives towards building a strong health community, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services, and achieving the goals of sustainable development in the health sector. This is through integration and coordination with various state institutions to exchange experiences and improve the health system within hospitals.

At the beginning of the visit, Major General Dr. Hisham Abu El-Nasr and Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy officially opened the outpatient clinics building affiliated with the new Manfalut Central Hospital. The inauguration included six specialized clinics: Orthopedics, Psychiatry and Neurology, Urology, Dermatology, Neurosurgery, and Family Planning. These clinics are part of a larger system comprising 17 specialized clinics covering various medical fields.

These clinics provide medical examinations, diagnostics, and medication dispensing services, in addition to referring cases requiring further care to the hospital’s inpatient departments.

The inauguration also included the inauguration of the mosque attached to the hospital, as part of the completion of the integrated service facilities of the new health facility.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, accompanied by the attendees, toured the reception, operations, intensive care and CT scanning departments, as well as patient rooms and dialysis departments, to follow up on the health care system provided and check the readiness of the hospital's infrastructure and technical and medical capabilities, to ensure the provision of integrated and effective health services to citizens.

The visit also included Dr. El-Minshawy’s participation in an extended meeting with Major General Dr. Hisham Abu El-Nasr and Dr. Mohamed Zein to discuss mechanisms for enhancing collaboration between university hospitals and Ministry of Health hospitals. The goal is to support the operation of Ministry hospitals by offering specialized medical services in rare and complex fields, in addition to contributing to the training and qualification of medical cadres working in them.

The meeting also discussed the most prominent challenges facing the health sector in the governorate and ways to expand the existing cooperation between the Health Directorate and Assiut University in order to maximize the benefit of patients and the local community.

Major General Dr. Hisham Abu El-Nasr expressed his deep appreciation for the pivotal role played by Assiut University and its continuous commitment to providing scientific and advisory support and enhancing collaboration with the various executive bodies in the governorate. He commended the university’s efforts in supporting the health sector in Upper Egypt through its distinguished medical competencies and human cadres in various specialties, emphasizing that these efforts reflect the university’s extensive capabilities and its aspiration to broaden the scope of joint cooperation in service of the people of Assiut and to improve the quality of services provided.

Dr. El-Minshawy highlighted that the university has made significant strides across educational, medical, and service levels and has taken major steps toward expansion and development ; particularly in the medical field. He affirmed the university’s commitment to harnessing its material and human resources to serve the health sector and its pivotal role in training and educating medical cadres, supporting the healthcare system through scientific research, and actively participating in presidential health initiatives.

Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University is one of the most prominent Egyptian universities with a developmental role in Upper Egypt, stressing the importance of promoting real integration with the governorate and its educational and medical institutions . He praised this cooperation as a key factor in accelerating efforts to improve healthcare services and develop the workforce and capabilities in this vital sector.

The university president extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Dr. Hisham Abu El-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, for his great efforts in implementing diverse development and service projects and his ongoing support for the university’s role and participation in various initiatives, as well as his acknowledgment of the university’s societal contributions. He also commended the governor’s efforts in removing obstacles that may hinder plans for developing the health system in the governorate, which contributes to achieving comprehensive development and improving the quality of life for the people of Assiut.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy was accompanied by a medical delegation from Assiut University, including: Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals , Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid, Director of the Emergency and Trauma Hospital , Dr. Mohamed Abdel Basset, Director of the Psychiatry and Neurology Hospital , Dr. Mohamed Ayad, Director of the Heart Hospital , Dr. Mohamed Farouk, Deputy Director of the Trauma Hospital for Administrative Affairs , Dr. Ashraf Gamal, Head of the Vascular Surgery Department.

The visit was also attended by Dr. Mohamed Gamal, Undersecretary of the Health Directorate for Therapeutic Medicine, Dr. Essam Nabil, Director General of Therapeutic Medicine, Dr. Osama Abdel Moaty, Director of Manfalut Central Hospital, Dr. Mahmoud Imam, Deputy Director of the hospital, Dr. Walid Hassanin, Deputy Director of the hospital, Dr. Kholoud Samir, Director of the Health Administration in Manfalut, Dr. Mohamed Raslan, Director of the Health Insurance Authority in Central Upper Egypt, Senator Mustafa El-Kohaily, and a group of doctors from the hospital, Health Directorate, Health Insurance, and governorate leaders.
