Faculty of Arts Assiut University organizes a dialogue session entitled "Human Rights between Concept and Application"
Prof.El-Minshawy: the university is keen to carry out its enlightenment and knowledge responsibilities toward the community and is keen to raise the awareness of university youth with human rights
Coinciding with International Human Rights Day, the Faculty of Arts, Assiut University, organized today, Tuesday, December 10, a dialogue session on: "Human rights between concept and application", within the initiative "Always Together to support human rights", which was organized, in cooperation with the Cultural Dialogue Forum program, at the Coptic Evangelical authority for social services, under the supervision of prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, and the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice-president of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and in the presence of Dr. Helmy Al-Namnam, former minister of culture, and professor Heba Yousry, director of the Cultural Dialogue Forum program, the dialogue session was moderated by Dr. Asma Abdul Rahman, assistant professor at the Department of Arabic language, with the participation of a group of religious, intellectual and media leaders, at the theater of the Faculty of Arts, the University.
The dialogue session was attended by Sheikh Sayed Abdul Aziz, Secretary of the Egyptian Family House, QAMs Amos Basta, assistant secretary general of the Egyptian Family House, Dr. Wajda Refat, former dean of the Faculty of specific education, Dr. Rehab Dakhly, media advisor to the president of the University, Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, Director General of the General Administration for student welfare, vice presidents, heads of departments of the College, several faculty members and university staff.
The initiative began its activities with the opening of an art exhibition of some art products that support human rights, under the supervision of Dr. Rabab Hishmat Mohammed, a teacher at the decoration Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, a documentary film was shown the activities and various events of the initiative, and a theatrical performance entitled "among the people", under the supervision of Mr. Mohammed Juma, director of the artistic activity Department.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy explained that the dialogue session aimed to discuss the role of culture in building societies, human development, and activating dialogue between young people, and cultural and religious leaders in society, stressing that the success of any development project depends mainly on building a person to be conscious and able to participate effectively in building his homeland.
The president of Assiut University stressed the keenness of the university administration to fulfill its enlightenment and cognitive responsibilities in building and raising the awareness of its students, supporting various activities and initiatives aimed at promoting values and principles related to human rights, and achieving the vision of the Egyptian state; for the principles of the national strategy for Human Rights, which aims to promote social, economic, political, cultural and social rights, valuing the noble goal supported by the activities of the initiative, and its role in building and expanding students ' cultural and intellectual, and their future.
Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla pointed to the University's support and its keenness to provide all its capabilities to organize activities and events that develop students ' thinking and contribute to creating a generation with a degree of awareness, because they are future leaders and change-makers, thanking Dr. Helmy Al-Namnam, former minister of culture, the leaders of the Egyptian family house, and the Coptic Evangelical authority for social services for working hand in hand with the University, in the initiative "always together to support human rights" to spread the culture of preserving human rights and respecting freedoms.
Dr. Helmy praised the role of the wise political leadership in managing the country and preserving the safety of its citizens and its lands, especially in light of the risks surrounding Egypt from all sides and the bloody conflicts in the region, pointing out that the preservation of human rights has been taken by some countries as a pretext to interfere in the politics and other affairs of the country, as happened in brotherly Iraq, and what the occupation state is practicing in Syria, and pointing to the role of the political leadership in refusing to liquidate the Palestinian cause, and the transfer of the Palestinian brothers to Sinai.
The former minister of culture stressed that the Egyptian society rejects the existence of any faction, current, or ideology that carries weapons, and poses a threat to its security and stability, praising its role in standing behind its political leadership, and supporting it constantly, stressing that Egypt is strong, undivided, its geography, and its borders are fixed, known, saying that the genius of Egypt is not in place, but the true genius.
For her part, Professor Heba Yousry praised the cooperation between the Coptic Evangelical Commission for Social Services and Assiut University through many activities and events, pointing out that the services provided by the Coptic Evangelical Commission are provided to all the Sons of the Homeland, regardless of creed or social level.
In her speech, Dr. Asma Abdel Rahman welcomed all the attendees, praising the support of the university administration for all student activities, which increase the intellectual awareness of students, wishing all participants to benefit from the experiences and experiences of lecturer Dr. Helmy Al-nennem, being a thinker, political writer, and former minister.
In a related context, Sheikh Sayed Abdel Aziz explained: that the idea of the Egyptian family house, founded by the virtue of the Grand Imam Sheikh of Al-Azhar, came to preserve the cohesive fabric of Egyptian society of Muslims and Copts; to form a clear-cut thought, capable of confronting intellectual extremism, stressing that all the heavenly religions originally came to protect and preserve human rights.
For his part, Amos the priest expressed his great pleasure in participating in the opening of the initiative, explaining that the essence of the Christian religion came to preserve human rights and respect freedoms everywhere and anytime.
At the end, the Shield of the Initiative and the Coptic Evangelical Authority were presented to Dr. Helmy Al-nnamem and Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, as well as the jury committees and winners of various competitions were honored.
