Dr. Tarek El-Gammal, President of Assiut University, congratulated Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Shakour, assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Science, for receiving Japan’s highest prize in chemistry from Tsukuba University, Japan, for his contribution in improving the efficiency and stability of solar energy cells by adding some chemicals to perovskite.
During his meeting with Dr. Mohamed Abdel Shakour, the president of the university expressed his happiness with this achievement, which is added to the achievements of Assiut University, pointing out that the university is rich with many distinguished young scientists in various scientific and research fields, stressing the continuation of the university's support for its distinguished sons with all its resources.
Dr. Abdel Hamid Abu Sahli, Dean of the Faculty of Science, indicated that this award is considered the highest scientific honor awarded to researchers, pointing out that the scientific and research shift that takes place at Assiut University led by Dr. Tarek Algamal with all the means of continuous support, care and encouragement are the result of seeing the role of young researchers and unleashing their young ideas. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Shakour explained that he received this award for his doctoral research, which revolves around the preparation of the latest type of solar energy (perovskite) of the environmentally friendly type, which does not contain any harmful elements to the environment "Eco-Friendly Perovskite solar cells". Pointing out that these improvements resulting from the addition of chemicals led to an increase in the efficiency of the prepared solar energy cells and also increased the stability of their efficiency over a long period, as the prepared solar cells were able to maintain 90% of their efficiency for more than 350 hours continuously under the light, and these results are one of the highest values of stability in environmentally friendly solar cells (perovskite), and the researcher presented his award to Dr. Tarek El-Gammal, President of the University in appreciation of the university administration’s continuous support for the service of scientific research, as well as the support and encouragement of scientists, researchers and the scientific and research movement in various fields and what the administration of the Faculty of Science is doing to provide all means of support, care and encouragement to its researchers, which has contributed to their superiority and distinction at the level of local and international universities.
