Prof. Mohammed Abdel Samiea, Assiut University President met Dr. Hazem Sharaf
and Dr. Samir Rabiea, members of the Technical Support and Follow-Up Committee
for Laboratories Accreditation Projects, an affiliate of the Ministry of Higher
Education. The visit comes within the framework of the periodical activity
undertaken by the committee to check the progress and achievements in the
executive plan of the laboratories Accreditation Project.
Prof. Abdel Samiea expressed his readiness to provide all possible means and
facilities to improve and develop the university’s laboratories. He also
indicated his satisfaction with the achievement done by the university being the
first university in Egypt to have two of its labs; Molecular Biology Lab and
Analytical Chemistry Unit accredited. Besides, the university ranks first among
Egyptian Universities with the number of accredited Faculties (Engineering,
Science, Pharmacy, Medicine, Vet. Medicine, and Agriculture).
On their part, the Committee members hailed the mutual cooperation between the
University Administration and Development Projects Management Unit, Ministry of
Higher Education and expressed their satisfaction with the support and
facilities provided by the university for Faculties and Labs applying for
Accreditation.
Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Nasser, Director of the University’s Project Management Unit
indicated that this visit is a follow up visit to check the progress achieved in
three projects: Centre for Testing the Technical Efficiency and Qualifying for
Accreditation, Faculty of Science, and this is the central lab which will
undertake the responsibility of following and enhancing all university labs
applying for accreditation. The second project concerns Laboratory of Forensic
Medicine and Clinical Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine, and this laboratory cares
for the diagnosis of poisoning cases and is being prepared to be accredited and
become a research lab providing technical consultations in the field. And, the
third project visited is the center for blood transfusion, South Egypt Cancer
Institute. Prof. Abdel – Nasser also indicated that during the visit, they
signed two contracts for two more laboratories in the Faculty of Medicine and
South Egypt Cancer Institute.
