Assiut University announces the qualification of a team of students from the Faculty of Engineering to the competition of the American Automobile Association in California for their design of a drone

Dr. Tarek El-Gammal, President of Assiut University, praised the brilliant students of Assiut University and their innovative work in various fields that qualify them to compete in many local and international forums and competitions. The president stressed that such students are the cadres that the university administration is keen to provide the necessary support and encouragement to ensure the continuation of their success.

The team confirmed that this aircraft is the first of its kind in Upper Egypt and was tested several days ago at the Arab Organization for Industrialization Airport in Helwan under the supervision of the Air Force and was controlled by a specialized pilot. This experiment succeeded without causing any damage to the aircraft.

Dr. Ezzat Abdel Moneim Marghani, Vice Dean of the College of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, indicated that the team consists of 9 students: Mostafa Mohamed, Ahmed Gamal, Youssef Mohi El Din, Mohamed Salah, Jihan Mohamed, Esraa Shaaban, Dalia Eid, Abdel Muntasir Fouad, Antonius Bushri.

The student team stated that the plane was manufactured under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Othman, a teacher at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanics; and Engineer Ramy Antar, a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanics.

The aircraft weighs no more than 6 kilograms and is capable of carrying a weight close to its own weight. The plane was also manufactured from local materials, as no imported raw materials were used in the plane except for the engines, because they are not manufactured in Egypt.
