Assiut University continues the activities of the" best eco-friendly college competition for the academic year 2024-2025", by organizing a workshop entitled" assessment metrics for evaluating electronic files of colleges", which was held today, Sunday, July 13, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president for community service and environmental development.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the competition comes from the University's vision to promote the concepts of sustainable development, consolidate the culture of green environment in the university community, and encourage colleges to adopt rational environmental practices that contribute to creating a healthy and safe educational environment. He pointed out that the organization of the workshop reflects the University's keenness to ensure transparency and integrity in the evaluation process, in order to achieve justice between the competing colleges.
On his side, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim explained that the workshop aimed to train participants on the use of quantitative estimation measures to evaluate electronic files, according to objective criteria that contribute to achieving parity among all participating colleges, which this year numbered 21 colleges and institutes.
During the workshop, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Hamad, professor at the College of education and the general coordinator of the competition, reviewed the steps of evaluating the electronic files that were uploaded via the official academic mail dedicated to each college, and the mechanism of completing the evaluation forms for each criterion separately, leading to the preparation of the final form for each college. He also explained that the results of the quantitative assessment will be combined with the results of the field assessment, which starts on Monday, July 14, 2025, and lasts until July 31, to calculate the final result.
Dr. Mohamed Mustafa pointed out that the field assessment will take into account the presentations and videos prepared by the colleges to highlight their environmental efforts and green projects, stressing that the first field tour begins at ten o'clock in the morning on Monday, July 14, 2025, and includes the faculties of Science, Engineering, and agriculture.
In a related context, Dr. Rahab El-Dakhli, head of the media department, media adviser to the president of the University and media coordinator of the competition, stressed the importance of the media role in promoting environmental awareness within the university community, by highlighting the models of success and environmental experiences distinguished in colleges, as well as covering all stages of the competition and documenting them in the media.
The workshop was attended by a number of academic and executive leaders, including: Dr. Khaled Salah, dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Jalal Abdel Fattah, vice dean of the College of Agriculture for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Buthaina Al – Fatih, assistant secretary general of the University, Dr. Abdul Rahim Ahmed, undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Assiut, engineer Hossam Salah Abdel Aal, head of the branch of the Environmental Affairs Authority in central Upper Egypt, and Mr. Ibrahim Saad Sayed, director of public relations and community impact at Assiut cement company-Cemex.
