Prof. Mohammed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University opened the Assisted
Fertilization Unit at the Women's Health Hospital, Assiut University. Prof.
Abdel-Samiea was accompanied by Prof. Ahmed Gaeis, Vice President for Graduate
Studies and Research, Prof. Mostafa M. Kamal, former Assiut University
President, Prof. Ahmed Makhlouf, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the
Hospitals’ Board of Directors, Dr Raafat Al Sukkary, Director of the University
Hospitals and a number of Medical faculty Members and staff.
Prof. Hassan Salah, Director of the Women's Health Hospital and Chair of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology indicated that this unit provides more
opportunities for training and academic research. He also indicated that it is
the outcome of the cooperation between Assiut University and Case Western
Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. In addition, Prof. Salah expressed the
university’s acknowledgement to the representatives of the civil community in
the USA for their shipment of the equipments with very low cost.
The unit includes a room for medical culture and consultation, an office for
delayed pregnancy and ovulation follow up, embryos and semen freezing and
preservation lab, patients preparation room, embryos and ICSI lab, and an
operation room for ova and embryo transfer .After he toured inside the unit,
Prof. Abdel Samiea asserted the importance of the unit and its equipments.
