On the second day of the
International Conference on the Oily Clay and the non-traditional sources of
energy for the sustainable development in Africa, held in Al-Quseir City, Red
Sea Governorate and organized by the Centre for South Valley Development, Assiut
University, a paper was submitted by a group of Assiut University scientists
entitled: "Egyptian Black Clay as a Non-traditional Source of energy." The paper
studied the black Egyptian clay at places of its existence in the Western
Sahara, the Nile Valley, and Red Coast in order to examine the possibility of
its usage as fuel in cement industry and other industries. Researchers have
assured, by means of Chemical analyses, the validity of the Clay in the Palm
Valley, Red Sea for the purpose.
