Research Abstract

This study was carried out on a total number of 95 specimens obtained from HCV positive patients. They grouped into HCC specimens (47), liver cirrhosis (19), chronic hepatitis C (18), and normal liver (11) specimens. Both ezrin and ICAM-1 IRS were low in normal liver with considerable increase in the mean of ezrin IRS in CHC group, while mean of ICAM-1 IRS was minimally increased. Both ezrin and ICAM-1 IRS showed considerable increase in transition from cirrhosis to HCC (p < 0.05). Ezrin and ICAM-1 were over expressed in HCC, and correlated with elevated serum AFP and vascular invasion. There was positive correlation between ezrin and ICAM-1 staining. It indicates that ezrin may increase the expression of ICAM-1 to promote the development and advancement of HCC
