The Department offers courses that help students identify medicinal plants in their full form or in the form of powder, as well as their biologically active chemical components such as alkaloids, volatile oils, glycosides, vitamins and salts,  minerals, and the effect of this chemical content in the treatment of diseases, and then the student will study the chemistry of these active constituents and methods of extraction from their natural sources and ways of identifying of the basic blocks forming these active constituents, and also to study their analytical methods. Then in their senior year, the students study the courses of herbal medicine and the qualitative control of herbal medicines using modern chromatographic and spectral methods for the regulation of these drugs.
