- The idea of this museum was born with the beginning of the study in the Faculty of Pharmacy and its beginning was a single closet containing medicinal plant that has been successful acquired by the efforts of Mr. Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Maghazi, founder of the faculty and professor of Pharmacology and medicinal plants, in order to teach pharmacology and medicinal plants to the students of the Faculty.
- The development of this museum and was supported by scientific models of plants that are already presented for the students of the Faculty. When the Faculty moved to its new headquarters (present) by the end of 1990, the current headquarters of the museum has been allocated and supplied with 23 exhibiting closets.
- The development of the museum continued with the efforts of the professors and successive heads of the department and their assistants until it reached the current form. It contains 180 samples of various medicinal plants or their products which are included in the Egyptian medicine constitution and other constitutions, where each plant has an identification card containing the active substances in it as well as the medical uses of the plant on display.
- The museum delivers a great scientific value for the first, second- and fourth-year student as it helps them learn about the medical plants studied in their correct form.
- The museum is visited by professors from outside Egypt and other Egyptian universities.
