The Vice-Presidents of Assiut University participate in the launch of the "Your Life Matters to Us" events initiative to raise the awareness of young people about the dangers of drowning accidents

Dr. Shehata Gharib, Vice President of Assiut University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Manshawy, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, participated this evening in the launch of the activities of the "Your Life Matters to Us" initiative to raise awareness against the dangers of drowning accidents, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Assiut Governorate and the Egyptian Family House.

Dr. Shehata Gharib explained that it aims to raise the awareness of young people about the dangers of drowning and protect them from it, which prompted Assiut University, the university to seek to organize the initiative and provide awareness and guidance to reduce the risks of swimming in the canals and Nile waters, in which the cases of drowning are increasing continuously, adding that the objectives of the initiative are to raise awareness of the dangers of drowning through seminars, awareness convoys, guidance and warning boards containing the phone numbers of rescue teams in the centers and villages of the province, and reduce the cases of drowning by making fences About the places where individuals go down to swim in the Nile and Tara, the security presence in these places, the activation of fines in case of disembarkation in violation of the instructions, the work of free training courses to teach swimming and rescue, the activation of the role of the police of water bodies and river rescue, the activation of the role of clubs and youth centers and the reduction of fees for entering swimming pools.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Manshawy also stressed the importance of the initiative, which emphasizes the role of the university in facing social risks and harnessing its scientific and human potential in order to advance society and solve the crises and challenges it faces, praising the activities included in the initiative that work to benefit from the expertise of specialists in activating the community and family role to reduce drowning cases, and also includes providing safety means in places of danger and places of disembarkation of individuals to swim and awareness of first aid for drowning cases, and the conversion of places of safety in places of danger and places of disembarkation of individuals to swim. Drowning to tourist areas that witness recreational activities for young people.

Dr. Ahmed Sherit, Director General of the Central Youth Welfare Department at the University, pointed out that the participation of the Vice-Presidents of the University began with moving to the Reservoir Bridge in front of Al-Salam School, and then attending the drawing symposium to raise awareness of how to prevent drowning accidents, which was followed by moving to Nasser Youth Center in Walidiya, where a seminar entitled "Community Awareness on the Phenomenon of Drowning - Causes and Prevention" was held, and the leaflet of the initiative was distributed to the youth of Walidiya, and then return to the university.
