Assiut University continues the activities of "children's University" with a scientific visit to the Faculty of science to promote awareness and knowledge among children

As part of the educational and awareness initiative sponsored by Assiut University, the activities of the "children's university" program were launched in its combined phase (sixth and eighth), under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and research, Dr. Yara Ibrahim, program coordinator and dean of the College of Early Childhood Education, Dr. Manal Anwar, vice dean for graduate studies, and Dr. Ayat Farouk, deputy program coordinator.

The events witnessed a field visit to the Faculty of Science, in which about 175 children from the age group of 9 to 14 years participated, where they got acquainted with the Departments of the faculty and its specialized laboratories, in addition to visiting the Geological Museum and the open Botanical Garden, in addition to simplified interactive lectures in the fields of energy, environment, plant, animal, and other sciences.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University is keen to support programs and initiatives that contribute to the development of children's scientific and creative abilities, pointing out that the University's hosting of the "children's university" events comes within the framework of its community mission aimed at discovering and nurturing promising talents, and promoting sound scientific thinking from a young age.
He added that the University spares no effort in providing the appropriate environment and full support for the success of the program and achieving its goals, by opening the doors of its various faculties to children and giving them the opportunity to get to know the fields of Science and innovation closely.

The children's delegation at the College of science was received by Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Sahli, dean of the College, Dr. Essam Fadl, vice dean for community service and environmental development, and a number of department heads, faculty members and supervisors of scientific museums.

In this context, Dr. Yara Ibrahim explained that the "children's university" program is implemented in cooperation with the Academy of scientific research and technology, under the supervision of Dr. Gina Elfeki, president of the academy, and provides children with the opportunity to participate in educational and interactive activities within the faculties of science, engineering, computers, Fine Arts, Pharmacy, and early childhood education, under the supervision of a group of specialists.

She expressed her appreciation for the continuous support of the university administration and its keenness to make the program a success, which contributes to the preparation of a new generation of scientists and innovators, capable of thinking and creativity, and positive interaction with community issues and future challenges.

On his side, Dr. Abdul Hamid Abu Sahli stressed the importance of scientific visits in connecting young students with the academic environment, and introducing them to the importance of scientific museums and their educational roles, pointing out that this experience contributes to stimulating the love of exploration and scientific research among children, in order to enhance their mental abilities and consolidate the principles of scientific thinking from an early date.
