- Dr. El-Minshawy: the inclusion of Assiut University in 16 international scientific disciplines reflects its academic and research excellence and leadership in the international arena

  Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, announced that the university has achieved a new international achievement by being included in the US News Subject ranking for 2025 among 16 global scientific specialties, which reflects the University's academic and research excellence and its rising leadership in the international arena.

Dr. El-Minshawy expressed his pride in the appearance of the University in this prestigious classification, as it was included for the first time in 15 scientific specialties, in addition to mathematics, which is the culmination of continuous efforts in supporting scientific research and developing the academic system at the University.

  The results of the ranking showed the University's progress in a number of scientific disciplines, where it came in 75th place globally in polymer science, 123rd place in pharmacology and toxicology, 128th place in mathematics, 170th place in chemistry, 199th place in energy and fuel, 211th place in plant and animal science, 284th place in Agricultural Sciences, 267th place in Physical Chemistry, 267th place in engineering sciences, 380th place in biology and biochemistry, 322nd place in materials science, and the 389 in Electrical and electronic engineering, 455 in physics, 615 in Environmental Sciences, 687 in the medical field, and 758 in computer science, among the 2,551 universities included in the ranking this year.

Dr. El-Minshawy added that this excellence reflects the efforts exerted by the University in supporting researchers, encouraging publication in high-impact international journals, as well as developing study programs and infrastructure in line with international quality standards and serves the Sustainable Development Goals.

In the same context, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs, said that the US News ranking is one of the most prestigious international rankings, and is based on precise criteria that depend on the academic success of universities, including local and international reputation, the number of papers published annually and their impact, international cooperation rates, and the number of doctoral degrees awarded.

For his side, Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, director of the International Classification Office at Assiut University, said that this qualitative progress is the result of a clear strategic vision adopted by the university under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, and as a direct result of the continuous support provided to researchers. He explained that the American classification is based on accurate indicators including research reputation, Citation rate, quality of published research, and international cooperation, which confirms that the University's honorable results reflect a qualitative development in the scientific research system, and contribute to enhancing Assiut University's presence globally and consolidating its position in leading international rankings.

Dr. Amr Abu fedan, deputy director of the international academic classification bureau, also stressed that the inclusion of new disciplines such as mathematics, and the remarkable progress in the fields of Chemistry, Materials Science, Botany and zoology, biochemistry, and electronics engineering, reflects the extent of development witnessed by the University in its academic and research performance.
