The international academic classification office at Assiut University held, on Wednesday, June 25, a meeting to discuss topics related to the office's activities and services, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, and under the supervision of Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, director of the international academic classification office, where the University's remarkable progress in the international rankings for 2025 was reviewed, in addition to discuss the proposed mechanisms to enhance the academic and research performance of the University at the regional and international levels during the coming period. The meeting also touched upon a number of organizational topics related to the office's activities and future plans.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Amr Abu fedan, deputy director of the office, and Dr. Mohammed Helmi Al-Hefnawi, acting dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, as well as a selection of faculty members representing various colleges within the office team.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the great importance represented by the international rankings of universities, as a mirror reflecting the quality of academic, research and institutional performance, pointing out that Assiut University's progress in a number of prestigious international rankings during the recent period comes as the culmination of integrated collective efforts exerted by all faculties of the University and its various sectors in order to achieve excellence and raise the scientific and research level.
The president of Assiut University praised the outstanding efforts of the International Classification Bureau and the fruitful cooperation of various colleges, pointing out that the positive results achieved by the university represent a strong step towards achieving its vision of leadership and global impact, which reflects the University's commitment to continuous development plans and enhancing the quality of performance in accordance with international standards.
Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban explained that the meeting included a detailed analytical presentation of performance indicators in various international rankings, in addition to discussing the upcoming action plan aimed at enhancing institutional and academic performance, pointing to the bureau's readiness to organize its fifth scientific conference, which is proposed to address the topic of "success stories of Assiut University graduates and their role in enhancing academic rankings," in order to highlight the extended impact of graduates in supporting the University's reputation locally and internationally.
The meeting reviewed the remarkable progress achieved by Assiut University in the US News ranking for 2025, as it ranked 427th globally out of 2551 universities, achieving a jump of 62 positions compared to last year, and was also included in the same ranking among 16 scientific disciplines globally.
The University's performance was also highlighted in the Times sustainable development ranking (the Impact Ranking 2025), where it advanced 100 centers globally to come within the category (301-400) globally, and ranked second at the level of Egyptian public universities, in addition to achieving advanced positions in a number of Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Amr Abu fedan also reviewed the ongoing efforts to improve the University's position in the Arab and Green Metric rankings of green universities, stressing that the office is working with deliberate practical steps to ensure the continuity of progress and achieve greater achievements, reflecting the prestigious status enjoyed by Assiut University regionally and internationally.
