Prof. El-Minshawy reviews a report monitoring the diverse student activities at Assiut University during the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025 

- Various student activities that dealt with the cultural, artistic, sports, and social fields, workshops to develop skills, refine talents, and developmental and intellectual disabilities

Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mawla, vice president for education and Student Affairs, on the student activities that were implemented during the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025; under the supervision of Dr. Madiha Darwish, general supervisor of student activities at the University, Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, Director General of the General Administration of student welfare, and the directors of departments at the General Administration of student welfare.

The report pointed to the initiatives organized by Assiut University in sports activities, where the physical fitness department organized the "Your pulse is your life" initiative, as well as the sports meeting (Be-FiT) for the second year in a row, in cooperation with the Ministry of youth and sports, to maintain physical, psychological and behavioral health among students.

The Department of Sports Activity, in cooperation with the Department of military education at the university, also carried out a sports meeting for the University team (football, pentathlon, squash), with the teams of the Southern Military District, to spread awareness among students, working to improve their technical and skill levels, and developing the spirit of competition among them.

The report monitored the most important cultural activities that were organized; where student unions participated with a student delegation from various faculties of the University, in the lectures "awareness development", which was organized by the Ministry of justice; at the headquarters of the Assiut Court of First Instance, with the aim of building awareness, preparing generations to take root with the values of belonging, and loyalty to the Egyptian state, and also participated with a student delegation from various faculties at the University; in the activities of the training program on: "anti-corruption, governance"; which was organized by the Administrative Control Authority, at the National Anti- Corruption Academy in Cairo, to spread awareness of the concepts related to governance, combating corruption, spreading the values of integrity and transparency in society; to achieve development, implement the national strategy aimed at combating corruption ( 2023-2030), and addressss all its forms.

The Department of Political Education also organized a field visit to the Mohammed Naguib Military Base, in Hamam City, Matrouh governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to develop national awareness among young people and instill the values of loyalty and belonging.

In a related context, the Department of Cultural Activity organized a lot of literary competitions in the fields of: (colloquial poetry - short stories - and essays); on the occasion of the University's celebration of the 51st anniversary of the glorious October victories to develop a sense of patriotism among its students, and the participation of the Assiut University student team in the geniuses program (universities), which began to achieve honorable results this academic year; by defeating Suez Canal University in the first matches of the seventh season of the program.

The report revealed the artistic activities organized by the arts department; the "style" Folk and Performing Arts Festival in its fifth edition, to encourage talented and distinguished students, display their artistic skills and preserve the Egyptian identity, and the "Creative Man" Festival was organized, which aimed at discovering artistic talents in the fields of religious chanting, hymns, singing, and playing for university students.

The report monitored the social activities organized by the Department of Social Activity and Trips, the General Department of Public Relations and Media at the University; a series of seminars at the University's faculties; in cooperation with the Egyptian General Authority for tourism promotion in Assiut, as well as a series of seminars on "combating the spread of narcotic substances among students" in cooperation with the fund for combating and treating addiction and abuse at the Council of ministers.

The Department of Social Activity and Excursions, in cooperation with the Department of military education at the university, organized a field visit for university students to the Safaga naval base (the base of the new Southern Naval Fleet in the Red Sea governorate); to identify honorable achievements; to be supportive, and participants in the construction and development process.

The Department of Social Activity and Excursions also organized the ideal student competition, which is held annually to honor outstanding students in various fields; scientific, social, or voluntary; to form conscious generations useful to themselves and their community, in addition to organizing a first aid course under the slogan (your health is honest, keep it); to educate students on proper behavior in emergencies and provide them with the necessary skills; to prevent the occurrence of any complications that threaten the life of the injured person.

The report revealed the organization of the mobile administration and public service; the Scout course (43), and guidance (29); for Jawali, and university colleges ' tours; to spread the values of the mobile related to team spirit, which positively affects the student's personality, relationships with others, and the life skills he needs; to get a real opportunity in the labor market.

Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the student activities organized by the University in various fields aimed at advancing the minds of students, building their personalities, as well as motivating them to participate in various forums, local, regional, and international competitions, and varied between arts, culture, sports, field visits, artistic and social activities, competitions, camps, seminars, and training workshops.

For his side, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Mawla, vice president of the University for Education and Student Affairs, stressed that the competitions organized by the University and student activities contribute to encouraging students to hone their talents, highlight them, develop their mental and intellectual abilities, and provide an opportunity for the talented, pointing out that students can participate in various student activities by going to the General Administration for student welfare in various colleges.
