Research Abstract

Abstract:
The present study was carried out at the laboratories of Department of
Vegetables, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt, during the
two seasons of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016, to study the effect of some cultivars
and different storage methods on storability of garlic. In our studied, we used
three garlic cultivars i.e., Sids 40, Balady and Egaseed1. The results indicated
that the lowest values of weight loss percentage obtained from both cultivar
Sids40 and stored bulbs of garlic by hanging (the whole plants with vine in Bundles).
On the other hand, both Balady and Cloves stored in plastic net gave the
lowest of sprouting percentage at the end of garlic storage in both seasons.
While, the lowest values of emaciation (empty cloves) obtained from both cultivar
Egaseed1 and stored whole garlic with vine in Bundles.
